braking systems

Found in a range of applications within the wider braking system of commercial and passenger vehicles, bearings and components from BTC Automotive ensure safe and reliable operation. Our technical specialists offer decades of experience in the field, creating innovative solutions for some of the largest global vehicle manufacturers.

Example applications include:

ABS pump motors

The ABS Pump is a crucial part of an anti-lock braking system that prevents the wheels from locking and skidding when the brake is applied, in order to provide stability to the vehicle.

The bearings used in this application are BTC Automotive’s eccentric needle roller or ball bearings. Most importantly they feature high reliability and low noise. BTC’s engineers have a longstanding experience with this application, creating solutions for a number of market-leading ABS pump manufacturers.

electric brake booster

More efficient combustion engines, hybrid and electric drives, as well as modern driver assistance functions require modular and scalable vacuum-independent solutions for the braking system. Electric brake boosters are the solution of choice for many car manufacturers.

Bearings serving this application must be highly reliable to guarantee the safety of driver and car. Our bearings are specially engineered for this purpose and fulfil all the requirements for safety, noise and life. Ian optimised internal bearing design is crucial in this application to ensure a high performing electrical break booster system.

vacuum pumps

Vacuum pumps are used in motor vehicles where the necessary vacuum cannot be generated in the intake manifold. Brake boosters, secondary air valves, EGR valves, intake manifolds, turbocharger controls and comfort devices are just a few examples.

Previously, most brake boosters used the vacuum created by the intake area of the internal combustion engine. With new combustion engine technologies, hybrid and fully electric vehicles or under certain operating conditions, the vacuum generated by the engine is no longer sufficient.

Electric vacuum pumps ensure reliable operation of the brake booster.

BTC ensures that vacuum pump bearings, as a crucial part of the braking systems in modern cars, have low radial play and optimized grease and thus ensure reliable functioning.

electric brake motors

The Electric Park Brake functions as a conventional hydraulic brake for standard service applications, and as an electric brake for parking and emergency braking.

Electric Park Brake (EPB) is a caliper with an additional motor (motor on caliper) that operates the parking brake. The EPB system is electronically controlled and consists of the EPB switch, the EPB caliper and the electronic control unit (ECU).

Bearings in this application must perform efficiently under harsh conditions and require high reliability and long life.
